On and off the road 2025 |
Realizing the kickoff is at 1:30. Hawaii time… We sped to the westernmost sports bar.
Got VIP parking. Note the sign doesn’t say anything about bikes.

Beverage.
After the carnage, Renee wins raffle to benefit local girl’s hospital bills. Wins hot sauce.
After whale watching we set off on safari to find the lost cave and sinkhole.
The road was endless. But beautiful.
To quote foghorn leghorn. “Boy, you look like 5 miles of bad road”
Along the way we found a secret beach.
I think we’re lost.
“What’s wrong with this place?”
“No! I’m asking directions”
This dude knew the way.
We made it to the cave entrance.
Get in there! I’m right behind you.
Almost through.
Not bad. The tortoise was right. Beautiful.
Some bike paths share sidewalks.
Some paths are not marked.
And some have nice views.
And some are not paths at all but secretly wild boar trails.
“What the hell was that noise?” We’re out of here!!
Phew! No wild pigs at the Marriott. Safe at last!
I’m hungry. Time for lunch..! My beloved Grandma Georgia said I had to go to a special Honolulu restaurant she visited in 1985…
This is the place.. The Willows. A tradition since 1944.
Buffet with everything from fresh, raw ahi tuna to lau lau pork wrapped in taro leaves to curry shrimp to guava chiffon cake and banana panna cotta. Whew!
We had a nice afternoon biking around but now it’s sunset… It’s time to go to dinner.
Hot new Korean BBQ place. We’re early, and we found good bike parking.
Perfect! Dinner with our Honolulu friends Andy and Jen, plus little Emi and baby Leo too.
Back in our Waikiki neighborhood.. Gotta put the bikes to bed for the night….
