Early morning start for the Maui Whale Festival…
My friend Courtney met me at the volunteer booth. We got our matching t-shirts and lanyards, and set off to help with the annual festival that was started in 1980 to raise awareness and honor humpback whales.
Every volunteer role is important, and ours was to restrict access to the main parking lot! We met a lot of super nice people.
And we were right in front of the Parade of Whales.
We always say Maui is best by bicycles.
Maui Police agree..
Speaking of police.. umm, officer, why is this man eyeing my locked bicycle??
At the end of our shift, we opened the parking lot gates for a guy on a bike. He thanked us by making palm-frond art.. I got a rose.
Later, Ron and Stephen treated us to a beautiful al fresco dinner… salads, mahi, ahi, shortribs and hawaiian bread pudding. xo
